Trees are the architecture of imaginative play. A wooden tree transforms a collection of figurines into a living world — giving animals somewhere to perch, shelter and gather. In Waldorf education, nature elements are considered essential to meaningful play: they ground stories in the real world and teach children to think about habitat, relationship and ecosystem.
