Wooden Black Swan Swimming – Montessori & Waldorf – Handmade

With its original design inspired by real birds, this detailed bird figurine can help develop your child's creativity and knowledge about the species of birds that live on Earth. Not only is this toy educational, it's also safe and environmentally friendly. Handmade and painted by Noelino artists using non-toxic colors, this wooden toy is made with soul, mind, and hands. It's carefully sanded for a smooth surface with no hard edges, ensuring that it's safe for your child to play with and hand

Each piece is carved from a single block of solid ash wood, hand-sanded and painted in layers. The finish is olive oil: natural, protective and gentle on the wood grain. No plastic components. Small variations in colour and grain are a natural characteristic of handmade production — not defects.

Open-ended wooden figurines work best when children are given time, space and freedom to direct their own play. There is no right way to use them — they become whatever the child needs them to be.

Realistic woodland animal figurines are among the most developmentally valuable toys a child can own. Without a fixed use or prescribed story, they invite children to observe, imagine and narrate — building language, empathy and a quiet attentiveness to the natural world. Research shows that open-ended, child-led play builds narrative thinking and emotional intelligence more effectively than toys with a prescribed use.
