Wooden Pumpkin Fairy House – Hand-Painted Waldorf & Montessori Toy

What's in the Set

A single-piece fairy house handcrafted from solid ash wood, shaped as a wide, ribbed pumpkin — with a removable arched wooden door that fits snugly into the entrance or can be placed open beside the house. Available in two hand-painted colour versions.

Orange Pumpkin

• Pumpkin body — wide and ribbed, hand-painted in layered warm orange with soft gradient shading across the lobes
• Leaf collar — broad hand-painted green leaves spread at the shoulders, with dark green detailing
• Stem — short and sturdy, painted in deep grey-green with fine grain detailing
• Arched window — recessed into the left lobe, with a cross-shaped opening
• Removable wooden door — hand-finished in natural ash wood tones, with a matching cross-shaped window cutout

Grey Pumpkin

• Pumpkin body — wide and ribbed, hand-painted in soft sage grey with warm undertones and subtle gradient shading
• Leaf collar — broad leaves in warm golden-orange and amber tones, spread at the shoulders
• Stem — short and sturdy, painted in warm brown with fine grain detailing
• Arched window — recessed into the left lobe, with a cross-shaped opening
• Removable wooden door — hand-finished in natural ash wood tones, with a matching cross-shaped window cutout

Each piece is handcrafted from solid ash wood, hand-sanded, hand-painted in multiple fine layers, and hand-finished with pure olive oil. No plastic components. Small variations in colour and wood grain are a natural characteristic of handmade production.

• Pumpkin Fairy House (with door): Height 14.0 cm ; Width 20.0 cm ; Depth 4.2 cm (5.51 x 7.87 x 1.65 inches)
• Removable wooden door: included

Solid ash wood — dense, smooth-grained and exceptionally durable. Each house is handcrafted from a single block of ash wood, hand-sanded through multiple grits for a silky finish. Hand-painted with water-based, non-toxic paints applied in multiple fine layers — the Orange Pumpkin built up in warm harvest tones with soft gradient shading, the Grey Pumpkin in layered sage grey with warm undertones; leaf collars individually detailed in contrasting tones on each version. Hand-finished with pure olive oil for a natural, child-safe protective coating. The removable door is hand-finished in natural ash wood tones. No plastic components, no MDF, no veneers. Made in conformity with the European toy safety standard EN 71. Each piece is unique — small variations in colour and wood grain are the signature of genuine handmade work.

There is something about a pumpkin that already belongs to storytelling — round, heavy, glowing from within. It shows up in fairy tales as a carriage, in folk traditions as a lantern, in the imagination of every child who has ever looked at one and wondered what's inside.

This house leans into that. It doesn't need to be Halloween for a child to find it compelling — but if it is, it fits perfectly into the kind of slow, imaginative small world play that lasts long after the decorations come down. The two colour versions give it a second life through the seasons: the orange pumpkin for autumn warmth, the grey pumpkin year-round as something quieter and more mysterious.

Aligned with Waldorf and Montessori principles, the Pumpkin Fairy House supports open-ended imaginative play and fine motor development through the simple act of handling, opening, and placing. Its wide, stable base makes it easy for small hands to work with — and its weight and texture make it satisfying to hold.

Handcrafted from solid ash wood and hand-finished with pure olive oil, it is safe, durable, and built to outlast hundreds of stories. This is the kind of toy that ends up in a child's memory as clearly as in their toybox.
