The Ghost in the Sheet

The white-sheet ghost is one of Halloween's oldest images. It is often linked to the burial shrouds of earlier centuries, and by the 1800s a figure draped in white cloth had become the familiar way to show a ghost on stage and in illustrated books. The jack-o'-lantern has its own story: in Ireland and Scotland, lanterns were once hollowed out of turnips, and when the custom crossed the Atlantic, the American pumpkin took their place.

Solid ash wood. Each ghost, including the witch hat and the jack-o'-lantern, is shaped from a single piece of wood. Hand-painted with water-based paints in multiple layers, olive oil finish. No plastics, no solvent-based finishes, no MDF, no veneers. Made in conformity with the European toy safety standard EN 71. Small variations in colour and grain are a natural characteristic of handmade production — not defects. Each piece is unique.
